This blog is an on going archive of my family's history documented through photographs, maps, postcards, stories and ephemera. Artifacts range from late 19th Century to mid 20th century.
Many of the B/W photographs were taken by my Grandfather, Erik Holger Pearson (Hal) who was born October 5, 1901 in Ostersund, Sweden. His father Erik Andreas Pearson emigrated to the United States in 1903, settling in Longview, Washington working as a carpenter. In 1910 Hal reunited with his father in Longview. The family lived in logging camps together until 1923 after buying a home near downtown Seattle.
Hal graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in electrical engineering and began taking trips to the nearby Cascades and Olympic mountain ranges. Hal was an active mountaineer and carried his large format Graflex camera everywhere.
